2000 GUINEAS 1871

The 63rd winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Tuesday 25th April 1871 over the Rowley Mile, was Bothwell (11/2), a bay colt by Stockwell out of Katherine Lodge, owned by Mr John Johnstone, trained at Tupgill, Middleham by Tom Dawson and ridden by John Osborne junior. The winner won by a length in 1 minute 52.5 secs, with a head dividing second and third. A field of 13 runners contested the race which was worth £4,350 (Equivalent to £478,500 in 2017)
